Dr. Danielle Martin, Ed.D.
Dr. Danielle Martin is an Education Activist driven by the belief in liberation through learning. With an innovative teaching methodology, she empowers those who have been marginalized and oppressed by fostering critical thinking, dialogue, and problem-solving skills. Her goal is to enable individuals to challenge systemic barriers and achieve self-determination, thereby dismantling the structures that perpetuate inequity and eliminating the unjust hierarchy in society. Through meaningful conversations and collaborative efforts, her mission is to emancipate and empower through the acquisition of knowledge.
A native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Dr. Martin is the proud mother of 19-year-old identical twin daughters, Arin and Ashlee, who are students at the renowned Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Her 23-year career in education has been dedicated to teaching, guiding, inspiring, and advocating for others, particularly youth and women.
Dr. Martin's journey began as a first-grade teacher and continued with her work in the GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) Program in the Harrisburg School District, where she discovered a passion for providing Career/Collegiate Awareness to middle and high school students. Currently, she serves as the Academic Success Coordinator and Assistant Adjunct Professor at Temple University Harrisburg and the main campuses. In these roles, she contributes to academic scheduling, faculty hiring, and the design of summer and youth programs. She also manages the partnership and dual enrollment program between Temple University College of Education and Human Development and the Harrisburg City School District, providing teacher preparation pathways for aspiring educators.
In addition to her academic responsibilities at Temple University, Dr. Martin facilitates the Teen Outreach Program (TOP) at the Harrisburg campus, offering social and emotional learning to at-risk middle and high school youth. She co-chairs The Education and Business Partnership Committee through the Harrisburg Chamber of Commerce and CREDC, and has previously served as an Admissions Counselor and Dual Enrollment Coordinator for Harrisburg Area Community College. On a statewide level, she holds the position of Vice President/President-Elect for the Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education, an organization committed to addressing the educational needs of minorities and African American students in Pennsylvania.
As the creator and host of the "Education Is Freedom" podcast, Dr. Martin caters to educators, students, parents, and anyone passionate about learning and self-development. The podcast, part of the global She Is Still Dope Network with listeners all over the world, features spirited discussions and real-time examples of educational empowerment, critical thinking, and problem-solving across public school systems, higher education institutions, and civic applications.
Dr. Martin's formal education includes a Doctoral Degree (Ed.D) in Educational Leadership from Temple University, a Master’s Degree in Education with a focus on Literacy from Cabrini University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Millersville University. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Harrisburg Alumnae Chapter, and has served as the past president of the National Panhellenic Council of Greater Harrisburg.
In her personal life, Dr. Martin finds joy in spending time with her loved ones, witnessing her daughters' growth, reading, traveling, and exploring new culinary delights. She is actively involved in her church, The Chapel, where she leads the Next Steps ministry, guiding new members through membership classes and baptism.
Passionate about education, youth, and service, one of Dr. Martin’s life mantras is: “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
